others in my world
19th-Jul-2008 09:43 am - AAAARRRGGHHHH.
I ONLY JUST WOKE UP.

Me.

Little miss '6am is a great time to go running, can't sleep past 7, can't do lieins' just overslept by THREE HOURS.

Now I am a *complete* mess - don't know what to do. Have breakfast? Work immdiately? Swim now so at least I get some time at the BL? Finish Revengers' sos' at least it's done and i won't have much time with the MS anyway\? I'm meant to be leaving for Oxenford at 5.

Oh Christ. I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF.

FTR, tho, I probly needed it. Predictably, I got to bed at 1.20 last night, although i do only have 400 words of review, +editing to go. (It might go up here for proofreading).

FUUUUCCCKKKKK....

Sorry, can't think of much useful to say, just wanted to share my panick...
19th-Jul-2008 01:00 am - femail: the women's paper that hates women
Christ on a pogo stick, I do fucking hate the Daily Mail. I don't know why I was spurred to remind the world of this fact by that article rather than any of the multiple greater fails, but I do.
18th-Jul-2008 07:44 pm - wwwwhhhhhhyyyyyy II??
It's 7.45ish. The library shut 3/4 hour ago and i really ought to go to the gym, go home, sleep, eat, whatever.

I *knew* this would be the case, and planned my day accordingly.

Ergo, why the fuck did my brain choose roughly 6pm to kick in properly, so's i've just written a good half a review in the last hour ad a bit?? I only have another 488 words to go, and i haven't even started on the general cast/setting/sound stuff yet.

Fuck. :o(
18th-Jul-2008 06:16 pm - OH GOD THE ANGST
...

...

...

I was aware that Starscream was going to die. I was even aware of the basic circumstances surrounding it.

I was not aware that the episode in question was going to rip my still-beating heart from my chest and jump up and down on it.

IT IS CAN BE ALTERNIVERSE TIME NOW KTHX

Also, Jesus jumping Christ on a pogostick, the scriptwriter for that one was shipping Megatron/Starscream so hard it's practically canon.
18th-Jul-2008 05:55 pm - cck's shutting down???
WWWHHYYYYY????

*mourns*
18th-Jul-2008 09:57 am - i have nothing sensible to say today EITHER
Leonard Cohen. Leonard Cohen. Leonard Cohen. Leonard Cohen. Leonard Cohen. Leonard Cohen. Leonard Cohen. Leonard Cohen. Leonard Cohen. Leonard Cohen. Leonard Cohen. Leonard Cohen. Leonard Cohen.

Just ... ye Gods ... wow.

Like.

Wow.

Wow.

Oh my God.

Wow.
18th-Jul-2008 08:53 am - because everyone else is doing it...
Watchmen trailer, ppl! OMG.

Am impressed with how panel-accurate it is...

May we avoid any 'i love you V'/Tom Sawyer saves the day -type fiascos from here on in...
18th-Jul-2008 02:01 am - Lurid Verse

Sven's cat is RELENTLESS.

Less than a week until Comic Con starts! I'll be at booth #1233-1235 with a bunch of my buddies in Dayfree Press. You should come say hi! I will have secret things for sale!

See you Monday.

17th-Jul-2008 07:02 pm - Zomg, I saw a film
Wanted. I will see Wall-E next week. Yay, am having good luck with cinema.

I enjoyed it very much, in a fluffy sort of way. It went swooosh and kaboom and kersplat at appropriate moments. I had this surreal feeling while watching it though that it was an amalgamation of half a dozen stories I know, from Loom to Deathstalker to the Taran books to the Matrix films. Certainly I failed to spot anything startlingly original there. But perhaps it's more an indication of my overfamiliarity with crap fantasy and scifi.

Of course, that's because I rather happen to like it, and this was very much in that tradition, although with less magic and more steampunk - old industrial buildings with tall dusty windows, mechanical rather than glossy tech, etc. All are Yayyyys from me. And what with Fate, Destiny, lineage, etc, we're on happily familiar territory here. Add in very pretty people going very fast in snazzy cars and shooting at each other, and of course an appropriate amount of selfconscious irony, and I'm made pretty content.

Sorry, that's a bit incoherent. But it's also 1am and I need to be in bed rather than trying to edit this post for sense once more.

I want to talk about the last three seconds, but will do so in the comments in case people don't want to be spoiled. No plot is revealed, but still.

17th-Jul-2008 11:20 pm - There have been better derisive nicknames.
"Squidhead"?

... seriously, Megatron?
17th-Jul-2008 10:33 pm - "No, Warren. Don't tell me about the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen film. I might cry."
Watchmen trailer! Zomg! Okay, so the CGI is probably not done yet and it might well be crap, but seeing how RIGHT it looks makes me flail nonetheless. As does this. Interesting that there's (afaik) no sight of Rorschach as yet, but it is a teaser.

Countdown to Alan Moore having a tantrum in 5...4...

ETA: Official HD release is here.
17th-Jul-2008 07:27 am - Argh.
I tried to go home this lunchtime, and found that I have locked myself out AGAIN. Fourth time in not so long a space of time. I think it's pretty much since I changed my keyring. ARGH. I could weep. I was really looking forward to having lunch somewhere where the budgets can't get me. And to having a shower before I go out this evening (nothing that exciting, seeing a film with work and nunnery people). This probably isn't going to happen, I'm normally the first one home.

I'm such an idiot sometimes. I kept saying I'd make a copy of my keys and leave them at work, never quite got around to it.

Supervillain musical. Well worth the watch.

Worth noting that it's only going to be online for a few days.
17th-Jul-2008 01:45 pm - Uh.
... did I just... watch an episode in which Jetfire... handcuffed himself to Starscream and hauled him around space while they bitched at each other?

Or have I actually started hallucinating fanfic now?

Edit: Okay, I know this makes me a horrible walking stereotype of a fangirl. But Starscream trying to play nice with kids and Minicons reduces me to a babbling heap of goo. *glomps the poor, baffled Decepticon*

Edit 2: WAIT A SECOND... he only stays with the Autobots for four episodes? THAT'S IT?! Not fair! SO NOT FAIR! I wanted longer! I want more grumpy jet arguments! GODDAMIT! ... WHY IS THERE NO DAMN FIC TO FIX THIS PROBLEM?!
17th-Jul-2008 01:22 pm - today i have nothing sensible to say

17th-Jul-2008 12:32 pm - Also...
...i hope [info]wildeabandon doesn't mind, but there's a very interesting discussion  of father's rights (prompted by this article) on her journal. To which my contributions veer towards the obscene and useless, but others' are really interesting...
17th-Jul-2008 10:41 am - i'm not procrastinating, obviously....
...but i just wanted to share: I found most of the the responses to this actually vaguely encouraging.

Or is there something i'm missing? Bar the obvious but seemingly futile 'we shouldn't assume we have the cultural right to commet on women's bodies full stop'?

17th-Jul-2008 09:34 am - My thoughts on Armada: let me show you them.
... Armada is all about the cross-faction shipping, isn't it?

*has just met Wheeljack*

Somewhat to my surprise, I freakin' ADORE this series... )

WHY is there almost no good fic for Armada? *weeps*

Edit: Leaving Starscream alone in the rain? HARSH, MEGATRON. No wonder he's so emo.

Edit 2: Five ways in which Minicons are the CUTEST THINGS IN THE WORLD AND I WANT ONE:

5. THE BEEPING. THEY SOUND LIKE CLOCKY.

4. Skyblast hiding behind Rad and making little distressed modem noises.

3. Perceptor. *cuddles*

2. Swindle swearing beeping at the Autobots who've captured him and escaping to rejoin Starscream.

1. The Air Defence Team clinging to Starscream's leg rather than leave him. *actually died of squee*

(Those last two are contributing to a developing pet theory I have that Minicons Adore Starscream, for reasons no-one is entirely clear on, and somewhat to the disgruntlement of various Autobots who consider themselves Good With Minicons. And Starscream's apparent affection for Swindle is just adorable.)
17th-Jul-2008 12:19 am - Another True Story

This actually happened to a girl I dated in college.

17th-Jul-2008 03:00 am - Recommendations?
Bit of a girly question I think...
I've returned back to Oxford from home about a month or so ago, and I'm looking for a good salon to go to (for waxing, treatments, etc) that is decently priced, and maybe even offers student discount? I'm looking in the city centre and Headington area for somewhere that is friendly, professional and quality for money. Websites/phone numbers would also be great.

Not so girly:-
Where would be the best place to pick up a decent bicycle  (just for travelling short distances) at a good price? I've seen a few places on Cowley Road, but am not sure.

Thanks in advance if anyone can recommend places.
16th-Jul-2008 12:00 am - Ne waes thaet wyrd
Kyra Smith is still feeling epic; thoughts on Beowulf, the book and movie.
16th-Jul-2008 12:00 am - The Reading Canary: Vlad Taltos Falls Over
Arthur thinks he may have found the place where the series by Steven Brust goes sour.
16th-Jul-2008 11:35 pm
Just been to see Wanted (spoilers) )

Now looking forward to WALL-E, The Dark Knight and I'd quite like to see Kung Fu Panda at some point. Also the trailer for Hellboy: The Golden Army was pretty good.

I'm such a boy!
16th-Jul-2008 11:01 pm
I resigned today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In 4 weeks time, I will no longer be a tax consultant - it feels AMAZING.

I will miss the people but the tax... Oh the tax... Oh the joy of forgetting all you ever knew about expatriate tax. I was going to do it next week but Mr Manager just tipped me over the edge today when he told me that I had used the wrong kind of tipp-ex to correct something on a form. Because, silly billy that I am, i used liquid correction fluid stuff and that looks too messy so go away and do it all over again with correction tape!

I contained my emotions and nodded and then went straight to the partner's office with my notice in writing. Better than chocolate, i tell you.
16th-Jul-2008 01:35 pm - AIDS walk
So as one of my responsibilities of being A Gay I'm taking part in the San Francisco AIDS Walk. It's a 10km route and the idea is you sponsor people and raise money for loads of great AIDS/HIV charities (far too many to name here.) Anyway, if you want to sponsor me then you can do it online here or get in touch (for some reason the site doesn't allow you to sponsor less than $25, so get in touch if you want to sponsor less than that.) I'm aiming to raise $200 and will probably make up the rest myself. So far I've raised $76... Remember that the pound is strong right now! Your money's worth twice as much as the locals' money!

EDIT: Thanks to Savvy, I'm now at $101! Woohoo!
16th-Jul-2008 06:35 pm - the irony of contemporary culture overwhelms me once again...
...there are three ads in the banner above my journal. Their slogans run as follows: Beat eating disorders; eating disorder help; and 10 Diet Rules That Work: Get Skinny NOW!

Comment is superfluous... :oS
